Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Feather and Lens collects when you visit, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to featherandlens.com.

Last updated: 23 August 2026

The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal information to anyone. The data that gets collected is the ordinary kind any website receives — server logs, anonymous analytics, and the cookies that affiliate links and comments rely on.

Information you give us

Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and website you enter, along with your IP address and browser user agent. The email address is not published. It is used to identify you as a returning commenter and, where relevant, to reply to you. Comment data is retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised automatically.

Email. If you write to us, we keep the message and your address for as long as needed to deal with the matter, and we do not add you to any mailing list without you asking.

Information collected automatically

Server logs. Our host records standard request data: IP address, browser type, referring page, and the time of the request. This is used for security and troubleshooting.

Analytics. We use analytics software to understand which articles are read and how people arrive at the site. This is aggregate and statistical — we look at whether a review is useful, not at what any individual reader does.

Embedded content. Articles may embed content from other sites, such as videos. Those sites collect data about you exactly as if you had visited them directly, and their own privacy policies apply.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them in three ways:

  • Functional cookies — if you leave a comment, a cookie saves your name and email so you do not retype them next time. These expire after a year.
  • Analytics cookies — used to count visits and understand traffic patterns.
  • Affiliate cookies — when you click a link to a retailer, that retailer sets a cookie recording that we referred you. Amazon’s affiliate cookie lasts 24 hours. This is what allows us to be paid a commission if you buy. We do not receive any personal information from these cookies — only anonymised reports of purchases made.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not stop you reading the site, though comment convenience features will stop working.

Affiliate relationships

Feather and Lens participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may participate in other retailer affiliate programmes. When you follow one of our links, your interaction is with that retailer and governed by their privacy policy, not ours. Our full Affiliate Disclosure explains the commercial arrangement.

Who we share data with

We share personal information with no one, except where a service provider needs it to operate the site — our web host, for example — or where we are legally required to disclose it. We do not sell data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it erased. If you have left comments, you can request an export or deletion of that data at any time. This does not extend to data we are obliged to keep for legal, security or administrative reasons.

To make a request, write to contact@featherandlens.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and may ask you to verify your identity first.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No website can promise perfect security, and we do not.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top will always show when it was last revised. Significant changes will be noted on this page rather than made quietly.
